Creating Peace through Art
Artist Corinna Zubin Lyon

Corinna’s mandalas are an expression of Divine source flowing through her into a beauty that breathes peace, but to simplify -let’s call it Art. Corinna Zubin Lyon’s inspiration is Samuel Lewis who created the Dances of Universal Peace as a way of creating peace through art. He is the inspiration for using the sacred phrases in her mandalas. Says Corinna, “I have been involved with the dances since 1980, and am just devoted to peace and beauty and integrating it throughout my life. My way of making my life purposeful is creating peace through art.”
She continues, “By uniting Hebrew and Aramaic languages together into one piece of art, I feel like I am creating peace.” For example, in her cover piece “Middle Eastern Peace Gate” shown to the right, at the center, we find the Arabic word for Peace, Salaam; next in the center, we find the Hebrew word for peace Shalom, and on the outer ring the Aramaic word for peace Shlama. “See how they all come from the same word root? They have all that commonality! So they’ll figure it out, they got to…” she explains.

Corinna received these mandalas during an infusion of divine inspiration. “There was a time when they just all came through!” She works with cold-water dyes on watercolor paper, using gold embossing as a resist, original stamps from her language research which she is proud of “I have made stamps for ‘peace’ in Chinese, Urdu, Korean, Tibetan, Hebrew, Arabic, Aramaic, Hindi, and Russian.”

Although her mideastern mandala is most potent for us at this time, on the back cover, you will find “Lotus - Heaven and Earth”, a Chinese and Tibetan peace mandala as well as the “Flower of Life” Egyptian mandala containing the ancient Egyptian symbol for the interconnectedness of All.

Corinna has lived in Bangkok and Greece and just recently immigrated to the exotic town of Port Townsend! Welcome Home dear one! You can find her work at Heavenly Choices in Poulsbo, learn about her bumper sticker projects and more about her art at www.asounddesign.com. If you are interested in her prints and cards, you can contact her personally at 379-0118.

Corinna’s message is “Peace is Power, Brothers and Sisters!”

Musings on the
Central Channel
By Marcia Macomber Millman, LMP
This week I've been instructed to give myself assignments that will force me out of my comfort zone. To fall in love with questions that will turn my mind inside out. So I’ve been circling around the issue of The Central Channel, wondering, “What’s it all about? How come it’s showing up everywhere these days?”

Summertime is the perfect time to try raw!
By Aimee Kelly Spencer, Body Alive!
This past Sunday I met a new, local organic farmer who told us about how rhubarb is most commonly reproduced today by a method known as “tissue culture” or cloning. Hmmm, what on earth is that?! Sounds like something to investigate. Where did I meet this interesting man? At a rawluck.

Living
in the Light

By Erik Laurentz, Dynamic Duality School of Energy Healing
“Living in the Light,” a very attractive concept; easy to say, hard to do.“Living in the Light?” Me? Maybe, parts of me…, maybe…. but, all of me? What are you, nuts??? Or, how about this….“Living in the Light?” Secretly…, yes, but I need to hide it from the world (for a variety of reasons—just fill in the blank).

The first response captures the fear of living in the light. The second captures a fragile sense of superiority that must be defended. When I was younger, the second would have been my honest response—not that I would have been that honest if you’d asked. The first response is closer to my heart today. The following excerpt is taken from the Gospel of Thomas, an early Gnostic Christian Gospel. The statement is attributed to Jesus:

Gospel of Thomas 45, 30-33
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.

BREATHE PINK!
By ZARA
One of the things I’ve noticed with my clients is that more and more of them are really concerned about looking and feeling good, and I am so happy I have found something that can really help, and to this end, I’d like to share a secret. A while back, I came across an amazing, simple idea which impressed me so much, I had to try it.  I came across the story of a woman who had an unusual spiritual experience.  Several times, she saw a beautiful, large circle of beautiful light pink in front of her.  She knew it had some meaning, but she had difficulty discerning what the meaning was. Then, the meaning came to her in a flash. Suddenly, she realized, “I’m supposed to breathe pink!” Heeding the message, she began to visualize the color pink, and breathe it in during two ten-minute sessions every day.

My Journey through Time & Meals
By Ayurvedic Practitioner Kathryn McCann
“You're full of beans” my dad used to say. And right now I am full of white beans and organic bacon with greens from my front yard. I love to eat ! Tuning into my guts is, for me, the most nourishing process of life.

Food awakens our memory. Awaken your senses and remember the foods of your ancestors. I spent years as a vegan and now I reclaim my omnivorous heritage. I take up space. I eat Food. Real food, not processed and packaged from the supermarket. I eat the seeds of Life, the elixirs of divine nectar.

The REAL Street of Dreams

The real street of dreams

There it was in black and white, somehow in following my spiritual destiny, it happened. I had fallen into my collge daughter's sociology textbook.

"Look mom, this is so exciting! You're officially what is called a 'Displaced Homemaker'. Cool. Hey, how much did you make last year?"

street of dreamsNot feeling very glad to be her example of low-income single mothers, I reply.

"Mom, WOW! Look at this, you fall right on the line on this chart!"

"Oh my god," she adds indignantly, "This is so unfair, women just don't seem to recover financially after a divorce. Whew...oh, momma, do you know the chances of you ever getting your own home again?"

I interrupt, "What do I have to do to get off that chart?" I ask.
